Homework: Daniel Tyler

Monopoly: the exclusive possession or control of the supply of or trade in a commodity or service.

Conglomerate: a thing consisting of a number of different and distinct parts or items that are grouped together.

Multi-national: a company operating in several countries.

Media Tycoon: media baron

Plurality: the number of votes cast for a candidate who receives more than any other but does not receive an absolute majority.

Public service broadcaster: publicly funded broadcasting

The Mythbusters:

The problem with media ownership is that everyone is only focused on the best way to make money, not caring about the people that's see it or who its focused on. For example, the phone hacking scandal was done simply to get a story to sell to newspapers, but violated their personal lives.
